Community Panel to Discuss Eminent Domain and

Association BACKGROUND The
Kelo v. New London case arose out of a city’s use of eminent domain to
condemn privately owned property as part of its economic redevelopment
plan. The Supreme Court’s landmark
decision in Kelo permitted the condemnation proceedings, holding that
“economic development” satisfied the 5th Amendment’s “public use”
requirement in the exercise of eminent domain. |
